The 100 (The Hundred #1) by Kass Morgan

After the Earth is made inhabitable by radiation, the human race carries on living on a spaceship that orbits Earth while waiting for the day they can return home. Unfortunately there is a limit to how many people the spaceship can support, so the punishment for breaking the rules is normally execution. Teenagers get confined until they turn 18, and they get a retrial that also seems to always end in an execution. As the situation on the spaceship starts becoming desperate, the leaders comes up with a secret mission where 100 of the juvenile delinquents to Earth too see if it has become safe to live there.

I think this was an ok read. I think the story is good, though I'm not sure about some of the events in the book (I don't want to write spoilers, so I can't be more specific). Some of it seems a bit far-fetched, but I guess teenagers can come up with the strangest plans when they are in love?

It kept changing POV, which I normally struggle with, but for some reason I could keep up with this one. Barely.

But I will be looking into reading the other books in the series as I want to find out what happens next. This one ends in a bit of a cliffhanger, and the book is more then good enough that I'll happily read the rest of them.

This book has got a little of everything! Zombies, vampires, dinosaurs, time-travel, alternate realities - it's all there. And somehow the author manages to make it all work together nicely. It is a wild ride, but an interesting one, and it makes me wonder what the rest of the books in the Leopard King Saga are like (this is the first book I've read in the series).

There is one thing that I would like to have improved - the book could have benefited from some editing. Nothing major, but it would have given it the final polish I think.

Other then that it was a great (though wild) journey into the unknown!

The Martian by Andy Weir

It started with the dust storm that holed his suit and nearly killed him, and that forced his crew to leave him behind, sure he was already dead. This is without a doubt one of the best books I have ever read. In fact I am tempted to read it again straight away, because I miss reading it...

First of all the story is really good. The main character is stranded on Mars, all alone, and now he has to try to survive long enough to (hopefully) get rescued. We get to see how he handles it, both technically and mentally.

I love the way the book is written. Mixed with a little bit of science to make in believable, but not so much that it gets boring. 
I struggled to put the book down, I just kept wanting to find out what would happen next! 

And it's really funny too!

I can't think of a single thing that I would change with this book... Well done, Andy Weir, well done! 

I would recommend this book to everyone! Even if you're not into sci-fi, this book is full of action and suspense!

Doctor Mars by T.A. Uner

I was pleasantly surprised by this book! Not having read anything by the author before I didn't know what to expect. The blurb sounded interesting though, and the cover image looked good as well.

I was very pleased when I started reading and the story was good too! :)
And it is well written with no major spelling mistakes either as far as I could see.
My only 'big' complaint is that it wasn't longer!

Well worth the read :)

The Stone Man by Luke Smitherd

I think this is a great book!

I love the way it's written. It gives the impression of a man telling his story about what he has experienced, and it's done well!

The story is good as well, I found it quite original. Where did the stone man come from? What does he want, what is his purpose?

Read it and you might find out!

I did like the ending, but at the same time I would like to know more! But I will not say more about that, as I don't want to ruin it for you!

Would recommend!

Bioshock: Rapture by John Shirley

I think my main problem with it was that when I read what the book was about before I started reading it, it actually looked like it was a different story. Turns out that it was describing the first Bioshock game, not the book! (I think this has been corrected now.) So when I started reading it got a little confusing, and it took me a while to 'readjust' to what the story was about.

I enjoyed reading about how everything was created and what happened before the Bioshock games though! I found the first half of the book was quite slow going, but it picked up a bit towards the end. I think they could have made a lot more out of the story, so I was a little bit disappointed.

I would recommend this book to Bioshock fans that are interested in how Rapture came to be :)

This story makes me wonder what our future will be like... A lot of the elements here will probably happen in the future... The TV monitors your reactions to commercials and can then only show you the ones that you are likely to pay attention to... But that's not the only thing it monitors...
Heaven for advertising perhaps, but not so great for your personal life...
